In 2022, I was tasked with creating an in-depth project for the end of the school year at the Technical Vocational School of Zürich (TBZ).
For this project, I decided to attempt to create my own constructed language or "conlang". My inspiration for this project was partly the fantasy languages created by J.R.R. Tolkien for the Lord of the Rings, as well as the work of Canadian linguist Sonja Lang with toki pona.
I set out to try making a language with the explicit goal of making it as easy to learn as possible, as well as containing as few unique semantic units as possible. The latter was fairly successfully achieved with the use of an extremely regular biconsonantal root system, allowing a surprising breadth of meanings to be expressed with only around 64 lexical roots.
The grammar and dictionary document can be downloaded from my GitHub [PDF].
